Why Twichery Now Uses Only Pure Almond Oil or Extra Virgin Olive Oil
At Twichery, every ingredient we use is chosen with intention. When you work with magick oils, the base oil matters just as much as the herbs, essential oils, and spiritual intention infused into it.
That’s why Twichery now uses only two base oils in our formulas:
• Pure almond oil
• Extra virgin olive oil
We made this decision because these oils are time-tested, naturally nourishing, and aligned with the spirit of authentic herbal and conjure traditions.
But there is another reason as well.
The Problem With Industrial Seed Oils
Many modern cosmetic oils are made from highly processed industrial seed oils. These oils often come from crops like soy, corn, or canola that go through heavy industrial processing before they become the “carrier oils” found in many commercial products.
In fact, these oils often require:
• chemical solvents
• high heat extraction
• bleaching and deodorizing
• multiple industrial refinement steps
Before all that processing, the raw material can resemble more of an industrial byproduct than something that would traditionally be considered nourishing or sacred.
While these oils are cheap and widely available, they are not the kind of ingredients we feel belong in magickal formulas.
Magick oils should feel alive, intentional, and connected to the natural world.
Traditional Oils Have Always Been Different
For centuries, spiritual workers, herbalists, and perfumers have relied on simple, natural oils like:
• olive oil
• almond oil
• sesame oil
• coconut oil
These oils were used not because they were the cheapest option, but because they were pure, nourishing, and energetically stable.
Extra virgin olive oil, for example, has been used in sacred anointing practices for thousands of years. Almond oil has long been prized in herbalism and perfumery for its gentle, receptive nature and its ability to beautifully carry fragrance and botanical infusions.
