Why Ingredients Matter Even in Ritual Products

When most people think about ritual products, they naturally focus on the herbs, essential oils, spiritual correspondences, or intentions behind them.

Those things certainly matter.

But at Twichery, we believe something else matters as well:

The ingredients themselves.

Every ingredient in a ritual product contributes to the experience of using it.AND it contributes to our confidence in recommending it. That includes not only the botanicals and essential oils, but also the base ingredients that carry and support them.

That's why Twichery chooses to formulate our bath and body products with goat milk and grass-fed tallow rather than relying on more common cosmetic bases like shea butter.

It wasn't an accident.

It reflects the kind of products we believe should exist for people who are certainly looking for them.

Our Philosophy

At Twichery, we don't begin by asking:

"What's the least expensive way to make this?"

We begin by asking:

"If we were making this entirely for ourselves, what ingredients would we choose?"

Again and again, our answer led us toward traditional ingredients that have been appreciated for generations.

Ingredients that feel nourishing.

Ingredients that feel honest.

Ingredients that remain close to the natural world.

Why Goat Milk?

Goat milk has been valued in skincare for centuries.

Naturally rich in vitamins, minerals, and gentle milk fats, it creates a creamy, luxurious texture while adding a sense of richness that many people love.

Its naturally occurring lactic acid also makes goat milk a long-standing favorite in handcrafted soaps and lotions.

Most importantly, it simply feels wonderful to use.

Why Grass-Fed Tallow?

For generations, tallow was one of the primary fats used in handcrafted soaps, balms, and skin preparations.

Only in recent decades did it largely disappear from commercial cosmetics as manufacturers shifted toward inexpensive plant oils and modern formulations.

We chose to bring it back.

Grass-fed tallow is naturally rich in skin-friendly fatty acids and creates products with a dense, luxurious feel that many people find deeply nourishing.

To us, it reflects an older tradition of craftsmanship—using wholesome, time-tested ingredients rather than simply following modern cosmetic trends.

Why Not Shea Butter?

Shea butter is a wonderful ingredient.

It has earned its excellent reputation and appears in countless quality skincare products.

This isn't a criticism of shea butter.

It's simply not the direction we wanted to take.

Our goal was to create ritual products inspired by traditional handcrafted preparations built around goat milk and tallow.

That combination became part of Twichery's identity.

We recognize that not everyone is looking for products made this way.

That's perfectly alright.

We created Twichery for those who are.

Choosing Ingredients With Intention

Just as we carefully choose our herbs and essential oils, we believe the foundation of a product deserves the same thoughtful consideration.

Every ingredient is there because we intentionally selected it—not because it happened to be inexpensive or easy to source.

That same philosophy is why our ritual oils are made using pure almond oil or extra virgin olive oil rather than highly processed industrial seed oils.

We believe the foundation matters.

We Believe You Should Know What's In It

It could very well be that ritual products you have purchased elsewhere contain clean and nourishing ingredients. We hope they do.

We also believe you should be able to visit the website of any ritual product—especially one intended for use on your body—and immediately find a complete ingredient list.

We don't want you hoping.

At Twichery, we know there are many wonderful ritual products available today.

We're simply making the kind we personally want to exist; lotions made with carefully chosen ingredients, soaps crafted in small batches, body washes formulated with intention from beginning to end.
